Unit description
This is the second of two practical units in which students attend the department's Outpatient Clinics as chiropractic interns. In this unit students become responsible for patient management and care under the guidance of the clinic supervisors.

Students will be presented a partial case that they will then elaborate and expand on. This examination assesses clinical competency skills, inclusive of history taking, physical assessment, the ability to make a diagnosis that is case specific. Students will be expected to comment on a treatment plan and prognosis for the case in question.
The exam will be marked by two markers, usually one internal to the program and the other an unknown marker to the students. The examiners mark independendly of each other and the marks are averaged.
The exam format is a VIVA format and no written material of the student will be taken into consideration in the marking process.

Attendance at Clinic shifts, placement locations and fieldwork events is expected over a 12 month calendar period and does not by academic semester calendar.

Two 4 hour Treating shifts and one 4 hour Reception shift at the University Chiropractic Outpatient Clinics for a 12 month clinic internship period. This falls outside of semester timetable and university holidays.
