Unit description
This unit provides interpreting students with the opportunity to practice interpreting skills in linguistically sophisticated and potentially challenging arenas, which would be expected of them at professional interpreter level. Each topic area will concentrate on issues of working from Auslan to English and English to Auslan.

Students who seek to sit for their NAATI professional level accreditation will sit the NAATI style examination
Students who are already NAATI qualified at professional level will do a conference (symposium) level interpreting exam
This unit is delivered in blended mode - via one campus weekend block and online interaction.
The Auslan lab is the teaching venue. Other teaching resources include extensive use of ELAN software, a range of presenters and a unit DVD of Auslan texts.
This unit offers students who do not have NAATI professional level Auslan interpreting qualifications, the opportunity to sit a professional level exam.
