Unit description
This is an independent study unit where the student will pursue a course of collaborative enquiry-based learning with a supervisor from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences into medical or medical education research. Assessment is based on publication.

Prepare a research plan in a topic relevant to the your clinical practice – either basic science research, translational research, or research into non-technical aspects of care or education.

Present on the findings of the research project at a department meeting or scheduled faculty research presentations.

Write an article for publication in a relevant peer-reviewed journal.

Write a reflective note on the research process and how the you might improve on research strategies in the future.
This unit will commence at the beginning of the Graduate Diploma of Anatomy and will be carried out over two Sessions. Please liaise with your clinical supervisor about your one-to-one research supervision. Technological requirements for your research will be identified by your supervisor. You may also connect with the faculty librarians to assist you in your project.
As this is a research project, you will liaise with you clinical supervisor to work out a research schedule and assessment timetabling. The below Unit Schedule is to be used as a guide only.

6 | Prepare and submit the research plan and progress report to your supervisor. |
13 | Submit a written progress report to your supervisor. |
23 | Presentation of your research on the day of the session in the anatomy lab. |
End of Second Session | Written research paper to be submitted. |
