Unit description
This unit will introduce students to posthumanism, a critical discourse that seeks to question the exclusionary politics that has historically positioned human beings as the dominant life form. It will explore posthumanism’s multi-faceted relationship to mythological fable, cybernetics theory, disability studies, animal studies and ecocriticism, and provide an transdisciplinary perspective of how posthumanism demands a radical re-evaluation of human identity and society.
This unit will be accessible to all Arts MRes students, will provide a range of critical concepts and tools useful to scholars in an array of research pathways in Arts.

Each student will make a digital poster presentation that provides a snapshot of their major research project. The basic idea of this task is that it is an opportunity for students to present their projects to the rest of the class. This poster should not just be another version of your research proposal. Instead, it should provide additional information – i.e. your proposal detailed what you expected to find, but this poster should detail the actual experience of your research journey.
All students must upload their posters to the Week 10 Discussion Forum on the FOAR702 iLearn site, as well as uploading the poster to the Turnitin link provided. Posters may report on a specific aspect of the research project, or report on the whole activity/project. Posters will be submitted and presented in electronic format, making use of PowerPoint poster templates or Prezi.
