The supported statistical software for this unit is R/RStudio. Students will be given guidance on how to use this software and be expected to conduct their analyses using R/RStudio for the in-session assessments. Students should also note that the final examination will involve data analysis that contains inline R code that students need to interpret to answer the exam questions.
Late assessment submission policies
The iLearn quiz will be unavailable after Monday Week 4 and late attempts not possible unless the student experienced a serious and unavoidable disruption to their studies. Late submissions to assignments 1, 2 and 3 are allowed but penalised in the following manner. If an assignment is submitted a partial calendar day late, a 5% penalty will be applied each day for a maximum of two days. If the assignment is not submitted within 48 hours of the deadline, a mark of zero is awarded for the task. For example, if an assignment is due 5pm on Wednesday, the 5% penalty will apply from 5:01pm Wednesday until 5pm Thursday. From 5:01pm Thursday until Friday 5pm, the penalty of 10% will apply. After 5pm Friday, a mark of zero for the task is awarded. No further extensions will be granted, except for cases where a student has a serious and unavoidable disruption to studies.
In the case of a serious and unavoidable disruption, students are required to notify the Faculty on the ask.mq.edu.au system and specify the disruption to studies which then needs to be approved before any alternative assessment is offered.
Final Exam policy
Students are advised that it is Macquarie University policy not to set early examinations for individuals or groups of students. All students are expected to ensure that they are available until the end of the teaching semester, i.e. the final day of the official examination period.
The only excuse for not sitting an examination at the designated time is because of documented illness or unavoidable disruption. In these special circumstances you may apply for Disruption to Studies via ask.mq.edu.au. A supplementary examination will only be granted if the student has been found to have had a significant disruption to studies.
If you apply for Disruption to Study for your final examination, you must make yourself available for the week of December 11-15, 2017. If you are not available at that time, there is no guarantee an additional examination time will be offered. Specific examination dates and times will be determined at a later date.
Students can submit disruption to studies request(s) through the following link: http://ask.mq.edu.au/
