Assessment Tasks
There are three assessment tasks:
1. Engagement: Leading and Participating
Due: weekly - student choice (to be determined in week 1)
Students, in groups of no more than three, will plan and facilitate an interactive class discussion that focuses on the weekly resource (see weekly schedule) and weekly lecture. The tutorial discussion will be based on a brief (10-12 minute) presentation using powerpoint or an alternative technology (video presentation, posters, whiteboard) followed by questions/activities designed to extend and promote further understanding and discussion on the topic, and designed to encourage peer participation and engagement.
2. Research essay (1500 words):
Due: 8/05/20
Students select a question from the weekly topics (or devise their own question relating to the topic area to be submitted to their tutor for approval) and use unit resources, lectures and further academic research to develop their response.
3. Viva Voce: Concepts of education: Structured interview and discussion
Due: Held during tutorials Weeks 12 and 13
Each student will prepare an A3 poster addressing their response to key questions, concepts and issues from the unit including their own research from Assessment 2. The poster will provide the basis of discussion, explanation, justification and inquiry. The viva voce is held in groups of 3 students, however students are assessed individually.
