Unit description
This full year thesis unit provides postgraduate students in Macquarie Law School the opportunity to complete a 20,000 word thesis under the supervision of a Macquarie Law School staff member. This unit is typically taken by students who intend to pursue Higher Degree Research. Students interested in completing a research project should contact the Director of Postgraduate coursework at the earliest opportunity to discuss their proposed topic and identify a supervisor. |

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:
- ULO1: Independently plan an advanced legal research project and present the findings of research in diverse ways to academic, legal and non-legal audiences.
- ULO2: Identify and integrate ethical research practices in the planning, execution and reporting of legal research projects.
- ULO3: Work independently, take initiative and be adaptable to diverse and changing environments
- ULO4: Critically analyse complex legal problems by identifying, researching, evaluating and synthesising relevant factual, legal and policy issues

Topics and resources for the legal research project are made in consultation with the approved research supervisor. Students wishing to complete a full year thesis in order to progress to an MRES or PhD should consult the Deputy Law Dean for further information.
