Unit description Unit description

This unit investigates the topic of national identity in Italy. A variety of written and audio-visual materials provide students with an overview of core values and key historical events that have shaped modern Italy, such as the unification, Italy's role in WWII and the 'economic miracle', and the turmoils that led to what is commonly considered the end of the First Republic and the beginning of the New Republic under the Berlusconi government. Other aspects to be investigated include geography, historical eras, market forces, business, latest developments and the European Community.
