Session 2 Learning and Teaching Update
The decision has been made to conduct study online for the remainder of Session 2 for all units WITHOUT mandatory on-campus learning activities. Exams for Session 2 will also be online where possible to do so.
This is due to the extension of the lockdown orders and to provide certainty around arrangements for the remainder of Session 2. We hope to return to campus beyond Session 2 as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so.
Some classes/teaching activities cannot be moved online and must be taught on campus. You should already know if you are in one of these classes/teaching activities and your unit convenor will provide you with more information via iLearn. If you want to confirm, see the list of units with mandatory on-campus classes/teaching activities.

Unit description
The unit introduces students to the principal areas of international trade law and policy, and in particular examines the legal regime governing the international exchange of goods, services, and intellectual property under the WTO. Topics include the WTO dispute settlement system; rules on non-discrimination; rules on market access; rules on unfair trade; preferential trade agreements. |

Quizzes
The quizzes comprise multiple-choice questions that are on the content of the compulsory material (i.e. lectures, tutorials/webinars and textbook readings) covered up to the point of the quiz. Both quizzes are equally weighted. You have 30 minutes to answer 6 multiple-choice questions. Each quiz can be taken any time between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm on the respective test dates.
Quiz 1 tests you on the material covered in Weeks 1-4. Quiz 2 tests you on the material covered in Weeks 5-11.
Take-Home Exam
The take-home exam involves a shorter hypothetical problem question. The take-home exam is released on September 14 at 9 am and is due by 12 pm on the same day. Late submissions will not be accepted. More information about the take-home exam will be provided closer to the date.
Research Essay
Students will be required to write a research essay focusing on aspects of the unit content. Students will be provided a list of topics for the research essay in due course.
Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, (a) a penalty for lateness will apply – 10 marks out of 100 credit will be deducted per day for assignments submitted after the due date – and (b) no assignment will be accepted seven days (incl. weekends) after the original submission deadline
