Unit description
In this unit, students analyse how businesses create and protect stakeholder value with a focus on risk management, data and technology. Students evaluate and respond to the benefits, risks and challenges organisations face arising from existing and emerging technologies, process automation and the use and application of data. Students will develop skills and knowledge in areas of technical practice including identifying, analysing and managing risk, computational thinking, analysis and reporting of data and emerging technologies. In real world case study based activities and associated assessments, students will apply ethical considerations to risk management and technology and develop skills to communicate technical data to a variety of audiences. |

Candidates will review a case study scenario relating to the management of risk and respond to questions in an online assessment activity.

Online case activity and written case activity
Candidates will review a case study relating to risk (including technology risk) faced by an organisation.
Candidates will submit a written assignment concerning the risk faced.

Weighting: 40%
This is a hurdle assessment task (see assessment policy for more information on hurdle assessment tasks)
Written submission
Candidates will analyse initial briefs, information and data in a case study about the adoption of an existing or emerging technology and related risks.
Candidates will then complete a written assignment concerning the adoption of the new or existing technology in the case study.
All CA assessments need to be completed and final assessment/subject must be passed to pass the unit.

Classes
Seminars may be offered either face-to-face or online via Zoom (refer to eStudent for class availability). However, please do not attend face-to-face tutorials if you feel unwell. Instead, please attend the online alternative, making yourself known to the seminar leader. If you are unable to attend an online seminar, please contact your seminar leader. You will not be penalised for ensuring other students and staff are safe. Teaching staff will also ensure they do not attend classes when feeling unwell, so class arrangements may change at short notice on health and/or safety grounds. Please monitor iLearn regularly, and before attending any face-to-face classes, to check for any changes or updates to face-to-face classes. |
