Unit description Unit description

This unit focuses on infrastructure, property and resource investment and financing, including tools and techniques which can be applied to successful projects and investments. A key focus will be on practical application to real-world projects.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

  • ULO1: Explain and evaluate the infrastructure, resource and property industry structure and value chain together with relevant financing tools and techniques.
  • ULO2: Critically assess projects in this industry using these techniques to find solutions with address risk and return requirements.
  • ULO3: Design an investment proposal for a professional practice project which uses appropriate analytical techniques and delivers practical solution(s) in response to the needs of relevant stakeholders.

General Assessment Information

Late Assessment Submission Penalty (written assessments) 

Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, a 5% penalty (of the total possible mark) will be applied each day a written assessment is not submitted, up until the 7th day (including weekends). After the 7th day, a grade of ‘0’ will be awarded even if the assessment is submitted. Submission time for all written assessments is set at 11.55pm. A 1-hour grace period is provided to students who experience a technical concern.  

For any late submissions of time-sensitive tasks, such as scheduled tests/exams, performance assessments/presentations, and/or scheduled practical assessments/labs, students need to submit an application for Special Consideration.

Transaction Analysis

Assessment of financing transactions. Group and Individual tasks for each of up to 2,500 words.

  • Design an investment proposal for a professional practice project which uses appropriate analytical techniques and delivers practical solution(s) in response to the needs of relevant stakeholders.

Tasks set with online classes including quizzes, online or recorded presentations, learning portfolio, analytical tasks and participation.

Final assessment

Assessment Type 1: Practice-based task

  • The forum allows you to communicate with other students and lecturer(s) and may provide supplementary material.
  • You are requested to post your questions on the forums at least 24 hours prior to the assignment submission date or the examination date. Questions posted after that time may not be answered. Please try to not leave your questions to the last few days.

Assumed access to technology: Access to a computer with word processing and spreadsheet capability is assumed, as is general student computer literacy. A recent version of Excel is the preferred choice of spreadsheet.
