Unit description
This unit provides an advanced introduction to the study of international political economy, and to develop students’ research, analytical and problem-solving skills. The unit examines the key questions, concepts, findings and controversies in the study of global economic integration and interdependence and considers the role of the state and non-state actors in shaping the international system. |

PENALTIES FOR LATE WORK
Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, a 5% penalty (of the total possible mark) will be applied each day a written assessment is not submitted, up until the 7th day (including weekends). After the 7th day, a mark of ‘0’ (zero) will be awarded even if the assessment is submitted. Submission time for all written assessments is set at 11.55pm. A 1-hour grace period is provided to students who experience a technical issue. This late penalty will apply to non-timed sensitive assessment (incl essays, reports, posters, portfolios, journals, recordings etc). Late submission of time sensitive tasks (such as tests/exams, performance assessments/presentations, scheduled practical assessments/labs etc) will only be addressed by the unit convenor in a Special consideration application. Special Consideration outcome may result in a new question or topic.

COURSE STRUCTURE
This course is taught with 1 two-hour lecture followed by 1 one-hour tutorial each week. Lectures will be held on Fridays from 12-2pm at 23WW P.G.Price Lecture Theatre. Tutorials will be held immediately following the lecture at 2-3pm and 3-4pm, both in 23WW 105 Tutorial Room.
On-campus students are expected to attend all lectures and actively participate in all on-campus tutorials. External students are expected to listen to all lectures and actively participate in the online discussion forums. As a postgraduate unit, student participation is paramount. Students are therefore expected to come to tutorials or participate in online discussion forums having done the readings and considered discussion topics.
