The unit aims to develop your ability to undertake a research project. The unit builds on your theoretical and applied knowledge. In this unit, you will have the opportunity to work with experts from industry and/or service providing partners within Australian Hearing Hub. The unit aims to advance your research skills including problem-solving, creative thinking as well as research and academic writing. |

This is a hurdle assessment task (see assessment policy for more information on hurdle assessment tasks)
You will develop a research proposal that includes a critical literature review that identifies a research area and provides some explanation of its relevance to clinical audiology. The proposal should provide a critical summary of past work that is relevant to your research question(s). The proposal should conclude with a concise summary of what is known from previous research as well as what the limitations are of previous research in terms of what is unknown and/or requires further investigation as part of your study. The proposal should provide a clear background and rationale for your research.
Assessment Type 1: Work-integrated task
Indicative Time on Task 2: 30 hours
Due: During weeks 10-13 of semester 2
Weighting: 20%
Work with your industry partners/supervisors to develop a presentation describing the outcomes of your study, briefly addressing your initial aims and hypotheses and whether your results were consistent with these. Discuss your results with the available evidence in the literature and provide in brief the implication of the research.
Assessment Type 1: Thesis
Indicative Time on Task 2: 100 hours
Due: 11/11/2025
Weighting: 50%
The written component of your thesis of about 20,000 words and should be presented in manuscript format to the submission requirements of the International Journal of Audiology.
