Unit description
Business Strategy develops your capacity to think strategically about an organisation, its macro environment, industry, and competitive position. Through a blend of theoretical frameworks and their practical applications, you will develop individual and team skills for conducting strategic analyses across diverse industry contexts. You will learn how industry dynamics and environmental change affect organisations and how to act strategically to create a fit that sets your organisation apart from others. While you will discover a range of strategic models and tools, ultimately, the unit aims to develop a strategic mindset based on understanding organisations, their stakeholders and broader environments from various perspectives. |

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:
Late Assessment Submission Penalty (written assessments)
Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, a 5% penalty (of the total possible mark) will be applied each day a written assessment is not submitted, up until the 7th day (including weekends). After the 7th day, a grade of ‘0’ will be awarded even if the assessment is submitted. Submission time for all written assessments is set at 11.55pm. A 1-hour grace period is provided to students who experience a technical concern.
For any late submissions of time-sensitive tasks, such as scheduled tests/exams, performance assessments/presentations, and/or scheduled practical assessments/labs, students need to apply for Special Consideration.

A 1,500 word report evaluating the strategic position of a business to provide an analysis and recommendation for its future strategic direction.

A 20-minute presentation of the initial findings of a strategic analysis, as set out in the Strategy report.
Assessment Type 1: Qualitative analysis task

A 1,800 word analysis of the different lenses of strategy, as described in the text, to explain and critique relevant aspects of the sessions and experiences that made up the unit.
