Unit description Unit description

This unit aims to serve as a transition to the next stage of a student’s career, whether that is entry into the workforce or pursuing further study, by providing an opportunity to reflect on and consolidate the knowledge and insights developed through your degree into a significant project. Students will be expected to demonstrate their knowledge in Japanese Studies (language and/or content/area studies) through the project. To successfully complete this unit, it is essential that you exercise your own initiative in managing your project/tasks and work collaboratively and engage with your group members.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

  • ULO1: Critically reflect on and consolidate disciplinary specific knowledge in order to effectively utilise it through your future career. 
  • ULO2: Independently and objectively search for and locate relevant material from a broad range of sources in order to place the project in the appropriate perspectives and contexts. 
  • ULO3: Independently develop and execute an original, comprehensive and ethical project which is based on the investigation, analysis and evaluation of concepts and issues in the field of Japanese studies (language and/or content/area studies). 
  • ULO4: Independently produce clear, reasoned, well-structured oral and/or audiovisual and/or written material, which are correctly referenced. 
  • ULO5: Make effective use of time and resources for efficient and timely planning and completion of tasks. 

General Assessment Information

Late Assessment Submission Penalty 

Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, a 5% penalty (of the total possible mark) will be applied each day a written assessment is not submitted, up until the 7th day (including weekends). After the 7th day, a mark of‚ 0 (zero) will be awarded even if the assessment is submitted. Submission time for all written assessments is set at 11.55pm. A 1-hour grace period is provided to students who experience a technical issue. 

This late penalty will apply to written reports and recordings only. Late submission of time sensitive tasks (such as tests/exams, performance assessments/presentations, scheduled practical assessments/labs etc) will be addressed by the unit convenor in a Special consideration application.

This task comprises a video presentation of your project and an online self-assessment.

For this task, you will be required to submit the product of your project.
