Organisations have an ethical and legal responsibility to safeguard customer data in a constantly evolving cyber security environment. This unit is designed for students to gain an understanding of cyber security governance frameworks and ethical issues relating to the complex issues relating to cyber security. The primary objectives of the unit are for students to be able to evaluate cyber security trade-offs, use relevant governance frameworks to develop a cyber security road map and to be able to examine and provide recommendations for cyber security ethical dilemmas.

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

  • ULO1: Evaluate the trade-offs between cyber security, cost/resources and business opportunities/competitive advantage.
  • ULO2: Develop a cyber security road map for a specific organisation.

The purpose of this assessment is for you to develop an understanding of major cybersecurity governance concepts and apply them in a real-world scenario.

You will develop a strategic cybersecurity roadmap or plan for the Board of a specific organisation and reflect on your learning from the first half of the semester.

Deliverable: Written Report (2500 words)

Indicative Time on Task 2: 20 hours
Due: Week 12

The purpose of this assessment is for you to progressively develop practical skills in skills and knowledge on contemporary cyber security governance issues.

You will complete a series of learning activities throughout the semester and compile a portfolio that showcases your solutions to the dilemmas relating to the weekly topic.

Deliverable: Written portfolio of completed activities.

Professional Practice: Ethical Practices of Cybersecurity

Due: Week 13
Weighting: 40%

 

The purpose of this assessment is for you to implement ethical and governance principles of cybersecurity to real-world scenarios.

You will analyse ethical dilemmas faced by cybersecurity professionals using contemporary examples and reflect on your learning from the first half of the semester, supported by relevant readings and scholarly sources.

  • Global, ethical and environmental citizenship

Deliverable: Written Report (3000 words)
