Unit description
This unit provides an opportunity to develop leadership capabilities in the context of professional and community engagement with a local or international internship or project in a not-for-profit organisation, government agency, company, or other industry partner. At the completion of the unit, students are expected to have developed and critically reflected on their capabilities with reference to professional standards. Subject to demand, the unit includes a separate research internship stream for students who meet GPA requirements. This unit is a designated PACE unit. Applications are open to undergraduate students in any course who meet eligibility requirements. Applications are competitive and places are limited. On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:
Late Assessment Submission Penalty (written assessments)
Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, a 5% penalty (of the total possible mark) will be applied each day a written assessment is not submitted, up until the 7th day (including weekends). After the 7th day, a grade of ‘0’ will be awarded even if the assessment is submitted. Submission time for all written assessments is set at 11.55pm. A 1-hour grace period is provided to students who experience a technical concern.
For any late submissions of time-sensitive tasks, such as scheduled tests/exams, performance assessments/presentations, and/or scheduled practical assessments/labs, students need to submit an application for Special Consideration.

The purpose of this assessment is for you to evaluate your progress by critically reflecting on the learning objectives set in your Learning Contract. Skills in focus:
Deliverable: Evaluation and reflection form in iParticiapte [max word count 1,500]. This task includes your supervisor's evaluation (10%) and a written critical reflection (30%). Individual Assessment

The purpose of this assessment is for you to demonstrate your ability to plan and take ownership of your professional development by developing a learning roadmap for your internship. Skills in focus:

The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate your ability to link theory to practice by critically reflecting on ethical networking and workplace values. You will prepare two separate online discussion posts that draw clear connections between the readings and your own placement experience. Skills in focus:

Your learning experience in this unit is through your internship. There will be resources on iLearn to support you in your portfolio of work and in achieving goals in your internship.
There are no formal classes as this unit is on the successful completion of your internship experience so you can gain beneficial employability skills.
