Unit description Unit description

In this unit, students will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they learned throughout their degree in a practical, real-world environment. This unit centres around a group-based project, conducted in collaboration with industry partners presenting a problem to class with different aspects. Students will work closely with various types of organisations including but not limited to not-for-profit organisations, government bodies, corporate entities, or industry professionals to tackle the challenges related to digital technologies and governance in the modern organisations. Through this project, students will experience the complexities of interdisciplinary teamwork for digital projects including effective communication, task management, and project coordination. With roles such as project manager, process specialist, system designer, and security expert, students will develop practical insights into the operational challenges faced by organisations in the digital age. By engaging in this hands-on learning experience, students will consolidate their academic knowledge and gain valuable skills in problem-solving.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

  • ULO1: Apply advanced knowledge and skills to solve complex, real-world problems by integrating both technical and governance considerations.
  • ULO2: Analyse the evolving risks and regulatory demands posed by new technologies and digital disruptions, and propose actionable, strategic recommendations to enhance the  digital resilience and cybersecurity posture of the organisation.
  • ULO3: Evaluate the alignment of emerging digital technologies and organisational cybersecurity governance with organisational business strategies.
  • ULO4: Synthesise collaborative approaches to project management and problem-solving, through effective communication, leadership, and negotiation skills in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • ULO5: Create innovative, strategic solutions to business challenges by leveraging digital technologies, demonstrating a commitment to professional and ethical.

General Assessment Information

As this is a PACE unit that brings all the knowledge of your major/s together, all assessments are all connected, as you work together on these as a team. Most assessment work will be done during class time.

Late Submission Penalties

If you submit your assessment late, 5% of the total possible marks will be deducted for each day (including weekends), up to 7 days. Submissions more than 7 days late will receive a mark of 0.

Example 1 (out of 100):

If you score 85/100 but submit 20 hours late, you will lose 5 marks and receive 80/100.

Example 2 (out of 30):

If you score 27/30 but submit 20 hours late, you will lose 1.5 marks and receive 25.5/30.

 

Extensions

Automatic short extension: Some assessments are eligible for automatic short extension. You can only apply for an automatic short extension before the due date.

Assessment Type 1: Presentation task

The purpose of this assessment is for you to work with your peers to effectively communicate both the ethical and technical dimensions of your project, demonstrating your ability to engage with real-world digital governance issues.

You will create a video that communicates the ethical and technical challenges in your project and present recommendations and rationale.

The purpose of this assessment is for you to demonstrate your ability to plan, manage, and reflect on your contributions to a real-world, industry-engaged digital project that has information systems, cybersecurity, and/or artificial intelligence aspects, amongst others.

You will develop a project plan and progress report that outlines your individual role, key project milestones, and contributions working with your peers in a multidisciplinary team, reflecting on your experience.

On successful completion you will be able to:
