Unit description
This unit is a collaborative project-based Capstone unit. It bridges the knowledge and skills accumulated in the course and the broader society of business and government. Students are provided with a practical experience of applying discipline knowledge to address real world challenges, develop innovative solutions and propose policy recommendations, within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Working in teams, students identify specific challenges, conduct comprehensive research, perform rigorous analysis, and develop evidence-based solutions for presentation to a panel of experts. The Capstone emphasises the development of essential professional competencies – collaborative teamwork, effective communication, and advanced critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills – through a virtual consultancy model. This structured professional environment prepares students to transition their academic knowledge into practical expertise valued in both private and public sectors. |
Information about important academic dates including deadlines for withdrawing from units are available at https://www.mq.edu.au/study/calendar-of-dates
On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:
Late Assessment Submission Penalty (written assessments). Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, a 5% penalty (of the total possible mark) will be applied each day a written assessment is not submitted, up until the 7th day (including weekends). After the 7th day, a grade of ‘0’ will be awarded even if the assessment is submitted. Submission time for all written assessments is set at 11.55 pm. A 1-hour grace period is provided to students who experience a technical concern. For any late submissions of time-sensitive tasks, such as scheduled tests/exams, performance assessments/presentations, and/or scheduled practical assessments/labs, students need to submit an application for Special Consideration.
