Unit description Unit description

This unit spans key areas of construction management including techno-commercial assessment, budgeting, floating tenders, bidding, and project quality management such as planning and execution, resource allocation plans, control and monitoring, and continuous improvement. The emphasis is on learning the latest industry trends, adopting innovative practices, and embracing digital transformation with a focus on sustainable construction practices. Students will learn to incorporate environmentally friendly practices such as optimising energy efficiency, utilising eco-friendly materials, and adopting green construction techniques to minimise waste and the overall environmental impact of construction projects.

Learning in this unit enhances student understanding of global challenges identified by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; Sustainable Cities and Communities; Responsible Consumption and Production

Construction Journal

You will work in a small team to design and build a modular building. A written journal will be kept by your team detailing the process followed for both design and build stages. Oral feedback will be provided on a weekly basis. You and your team will compile your weekly journals into a final group report. Your individual mark is based on your team performance and the weighted group mark.

Delivery and Resources

The unit consists a collaborative construction project.  Students work in small teams to complete the project.  A group journal will be kept each workshop and submitted at teh end of the unit. Workshops are held on Tuesdays at 3pm in room G75.  Please only come to the workshop you have been asigned to.
