Unit description
This unit examines the key issues currently facing manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors in the global markets. The primary objective of this unit is to illustrate the connection between globalisation and supply chain management through understanding SCM theories and real-life practices. |

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:
Late Submission Penalties: If you submit your assessment late, 5% of the total possible marks will be deducted for each day (including weekends), up to 7 days. Submissions more than 7 days late will receive a mark of 0. Example 1 (out of 100): If you score 85/100 but submit 20 hours late, you will lose 5 marks and receive 80/100. Example 2 (out of 30): If you score 27/30 but submit 20 hours late, you will lose 1.5 marks and receive 25.5/30.
Extensions - Automatic Short Extension: Some assessments are eligible for automatic short extension. You can only apply for an automatic short extension before the due date.
Special Consideration: If you need more time due to serious issues and for any assessments that are not eligible for Short Extension, you must apply for Special Consideration. Need help? Review the Special Consideration page for further details.
All written assessments must be submitted by 23:59 (local time) on the Monday (Class Day) of the designated due week. A 1-hour grace period is provided to students who experience a technical concern. For any late submissions of time-sensitive tasks, such as scheduled tests/exams, performance assessments/presentations, and/or scheduled practical assessments/labs, students need to submit an application for Special Consideration.

The purpose of this assessment is to develop your ability to critically analyse global business challenges and apply theoretical frameworks to evaluate their implications for Australian industries operating in international contexts.
You will independently research one key theme in post-pandemic supply chain management (such as diversification, localisation, digitisation, or customer focus) and analyse its influence on an Australian export industry from a global perspective. Drawing on scholarly literature and industry data, you will evaluate opportunities, risks, and managerial implications for international firms.

The purpose of this assessment is to develop your ability to research, analyse, and evaluate a global firm’s supply-chain strategy using rigorous academic and industry evidence, and to communicate actionable, professional recommendations.
You will work in a group to select a Fortune 500 firm, investigate its macro environment, map and evaluate its value chain, analyse key supply-chain topics, and propose three detailed, time-phased recommendations. Your team will present their insights in class and submit a final research-informed analysis.
