Unit description Unit description
This is an independent study unit where the student will pursue a course of collaborative enquiry-based learning with a supervisor from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences into medical or medical education research.

General Assessment Information

Penalties for late submissions

Late submissions will be penalised unless special consideration is granted by the unit convenor. The penalty is 10% per day or part thereof.

Learning Portfolio

A collection of:

a) Research plan in a topic relevant to your clinical practice – either basic science research, translational research, or research into non-technical aspects of care or education.

b) Write a journal article which can be submitted for in a relevant peer-reviewed journal

The components of the portfolio will be negotiated with the supervisor and submitted on or before the due date

3rd November 2018. You are strongly advised to submit part of the portfolio (the research plan) as early as you can in the unit for a feedback from your supervisor. The portfolio will be assessed collective as Pass/Fail

  • Demonstrate research competence in chosen field and methodology
  • Demonstrate ability to write in relevant academic styles

Delivery and Resources

This unit will commence at the beginning of the Graduate Diploma of Anatomy and will be carried out over two Sessions. Please liaise with your clinical supervisor about your one-to-one research supervision. Technological requirements for your research will be identified by your supervisor. You may also connect with the faculty librarians to assist you in your project.
