Unit description
This unit provides students with practical opportunities to develop their translation competencies further. This unit involves the translation of various types of texts. Students discuss problems encountered in the course of translation such as textual, stylistics, register, and language usage issues, as well as equivalence at different levels. It is aimed at introducing strategies to solve more challenging problems and leading students to establish their own strategies.

Students are required to maintain a reflective journal with a weekly entry of 250 words in each direction.

Students are required to complete one 3 hour exam paper from English into LOTE.

The learning and teaching strategies used in this Unit are two face-to-face sessions per week.
It is expected that students in this unit will prepare translation tasks and research translation topic areas before class, participate in class discussions and complete translation assignments and write reflective translation journals after class. Students are expected to be active participants in the learning process.
