Unit description
This unit consists of one or more supervised placements in one or more professional psychology workplaces. It gives students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills developed in the Program to real-word, professional practice situations and thereby prepare for the 6th and final year of training and, in turn, registration and future, independent, professional practice.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:
- Compile and produce a practice log which records their self-reflections on their developing professional practice and learning.
- Implement and monitor the required number of supervised days of professional experience and the activities specified in the professional field placement manual for this unit.
- Achieved a satisfactory level of progress in their development as provisional psychologists in line with the requirements outlined in the professional field placement manual.
- Implement communication skills effectively with clients and other professionals.
- Apply decision-making strategies to resolve ethical questions to problems using the APS Code of Ethics, Guidelines and Mandatory reporting legislation, across a variety of contexts.
- Explain the development of assessment, therapy and professional conduct within the organisational and independent contexts of professional psychological practice.

Mid Placement Review
Due: TBA
Weighting: 50%
This is a hurdle assessment task (see assessment policy for more information on hurdle assessment tasks)
The mid placement review, worth 50%, needs to be completed and uploaded or emailed to the Placement Coordinator.
A mid placement review is required after completion of approximately half of the placement hours (i.e. 150 hours).
Log books are also required to be maintained throughout practica, signed and uploaded or sent to the appropriate email address.
Supervision agreement is to be completed by the supervisor and student, and completed online or submitted by email to the Placement Coordinator for approval before commencing placement.
Progress should be demonstrated towards the total of 300 hours of placement, including 40 hours of supervision. By the mid-placement review at least half of these requirements should be attained and documented.

End Placement Reviews

Weighting: 50%
This is a hurdle assessment task (see assessment policy for more information on hurdle assessment tasks)
The end of placement review, worth 50%, needs to be completed and uploaded or emailed to the Placement Coordinator.
An end placement review is required at the conclusion of 300 hours of practica, submitted by the end of session 1 or session 2 depending on placement completion dates.
Log books are also required to be maintained throughout practica, signed and uploaded or sent to the appropriate email address.
Student evaluations and final documentation must be submitted to the Placement Coordinator for final approval.
300 hours of placement including 40 hours of supervision are required to be documented within the end-placement review.

Delivery and Resources
This unit is comprised of one workshop, placement and supervision
Placement: 300 hours of field placement
Supervision: A minimum of 40 hours of supervision, at a ratio of one hour for each day of field placement. Up to 50% of the supervision may be in a group setting.
Additional hours of practica and group supervision are provided within other coursework units.
