Unit description
In this unit characteristics of languages are examined within their ancient context: scripts, morphology, and syntax; language and society; reading the past in ancient languages; ancient languages and today's world. Drawing on their studies in two or more ancient languages, students will relate the primary evidence for ancient languages to a broad view of the societies which created, developed and used them. |

Satisfactory Completion
Completion of all Assessment Tasks is required to complete the unit satisfactorily.
Submission and Extensions
Internal students are normally expected to fulfil Participation requirements in class, Externals or others unable (for an acceptable reason) to attend class fulfil Participation requirements via the electronic Discussion Forum. Submit the electronic Quizzes via the unit's iLearn page. Submission of the Prose Compositions is electronic via Turnitin. The Examination is closed-book and administered by the central administration.
Extensions are available on medical grounds and may be requested under other special circumstances. Apply via ask.mq.edu.au
Penalties for Late Submission
Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, (a) a penalty for lateness will apply – two (2) marks out of 100 will be deducted per day for assignments submitted after the due date – and (b) no assignment will be accepted more than seven (7) days (incl. weekends) after the original submission deadline. No late submissions will be accepted for timed assessments – e.g. quizzes.
