Session 2 Learning and Teaching Update
The decision has been made to conduct study online for the remainder of Session 2 for all units WITHOUT mandatory on-campus learning activities. Exams for Session 2 will also be online where possible to do so.
This is due to the extension of the lockdown orders and to provide certainty around arrangements for the remainder of Session 2. We hope to return to campus beyond Session 2 as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so.
Some classes/teaching activities cannot be moved online and must be taught on campus. You should already know if you are in one of these classes/teaching activities and your unit convenor will provide you with more information via iLearn. If you want to confirm, see the list of units with mandatory on-campus classes/teaching activities.

Unit description
This unit will provide students with the opportunity to apply musical learning to collaborative and individual projects that will focus on their musical creativity, performance and/or production. Students will learn how to develop an integrative musical project as well as document their key achievements in music in order to support their career aspirations and audience scope. |

Please note that the University and the Faculty of Arts have launched a new assessment policy effective as of 1 July 2021. This new policy particularly affects LATE SUBMISSION OF ASSIGNMENTS.
The Faculty policy in relation to late assessment submissions is as follows:
Unless a Special Consideration request has been submitted and approved, (a) a penalty for lateness will apply – 10 marks out of 100 credit will be deducted per day for assignments submitted after the due date – and (b) no assignment will be accepted seven days (incl. weekends) after the original submission deadline. No late submissions will be accepted for timed assessments – e.g. quizzes, online tests, etc.

These are serious penalties that will substantially alter your final grade and even determine whether you pass or fail this unit. Please make every effort to submit your assignment by the due date.

This assessment requires students to critically analyse their musical learning and goals. Students are to submit a proposal for a creative project (e.g., performance of new work; recording of original musical work) which will be either an individual and/or ensemble performance as may be practical for the circumstances. Please note that all projects must be NEW projects for this unit. Proposals need to include the aim of the performance/project, the scope of the performance/project, the proposed target audience and/or strategy, a proposed timeline and technical requirements. Refer to iLearn for further information.

Indicative Time on Task 2: 30 hours

Weighting: 35%
This assessment entails musical creativity and collaboration to write and plan a song or instrumental piece (different to their final project) in which each student makes a contribution. Students collaborate to determine their individual roles as well as the form and design of a potential group performance. The design of the work should indicate the formal segments of the song/piece as well as the individual contributions of each ensemble member. The submission should also include either recorded or notated excerpts and/or segments of the piece to demonstrate the potential creative contribution of each member. Further details will be provided in the first weeks of the semester as well as in iLearn. Students will critically analyse the creative process, their individual contribution and potential project realisation in written documentation.

This creative project entails a performance or presentation in a recorded format that is developed from the original proposal plan. Students are required to submit written documentation on their creative processes, project realisation and outcomes (with a credit list as appropriate). This documentation will include a reflection on project aims and how these relate to career aspirations and musical goals. Refer to iLearn for further information
